A ‘Jack Frost English Wine Tasting Tour’ with Martin Phillips to Oxney Organic, Beckley near Hastings on the coast accompanying celebrity guests Yegas Naidoo AIWS, International Wine Challenge judge who chooses the wine for South African Airlines First and Business Class.  Also at the tastings were Arno Maarsdorp and Zoe Hamilton Peters of London’s premier secret Saltoun Supper Club with wine maker Ben Smith.  Two days of travelling, lunching and visiting Chapel Down, Biddenden, Oxney and Gusbourne vineyards and wineries.  English wine is in fine fettle with it’s own sense of ‘terrior’ emerging from decades of following German and French palate profiles. Well made wines reflecting our soft sunshine, delicate fragrant hedgerows and milky opaque glass late afternoon skies.  Apples, rose hips, hints of freshly harvested hazel nuts and whiffs of samphire with the subtle pepper of pinks.
